Application drop-off for vital records is open to the public Monday - Friday from 8:00am-11:30am & 12:30pm-3:45pm.
On January 1, 2021 new vital records law and rules went into effect in Washington State. This changed the ordering requirements for birth and death certificates.
The certificate fee increased to $25.00 per copy.
Proof of identity and proof of eligibility documentation are required. Acceptable proofs.
For increased security of personal information, only individuals with specific relationships to the person on the record can receive a certificate.
As per RCW79.58A orders placed by applicants who do not qualify for the record, or who do not provide required information within 30 days, will be cancelled and no refund will be issued.

Must have been born in Washington State
Copies can typically be issued after 2:00pm on the day of drop-off

Deaths that occurred in Washington State from August 1, 2012 to present. For death certificates prior to August 1, 2012, contact state vital records.

Ways to Request a Certificate:
In-person: Application drop-off for vital records is open to the public Monday - Friday from 8:00am-11:30am & 12:30pm-3:45pm.
Mail: Applications can be processed via mail for an additional $4.00 per order.
Print out one of the vital records forms listed above, write in your information, include a photo copy of your acceptable proof(s) and mail it, along with your payment, to the address provided on the form.
In addition to the cost of the certificate(s), an additional fee of $4.00 per order applies when an order is submitted by mail and payment is made by check or money order.

You can expect your birth certificate order in approximately 3-4 weeks when choosing the mail-in method.
