Resiliency

Grays Harbor County Public Health (GHCPH) understands that exposure to trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can alter child development and increase the risk of morbidity and early mortality. Resilience, one’s ability to adapt to adversity, is not something you are born with or without, it can be developed and strengthened by having a trusted adult or someone you can talk to or turn to for support, learning healthy coping mechanisms (such as social and emotional regulation), and nurturing hope. Through the GHCPH’s Trauma Informed Committee, we’ve developed a resource library to assist our community with information to understand the correlation between trauma and health and offer learning opportunities to build healthy community experiences!
